Ben Benton shows a trick using some simple joints in Cinema 4D and adding some Xpresso to create an easy rig that can be used for animating a character’s tail.

…In this tutorial I show you a little technique I picked up on my grad film for making a tail rig in C4D using Xpresso…

Ben does this by creating a Joint Chain that is controlled by Xpresso using a RangeMapper Node and float sliders for the control. Ben notes that this technique has way more applications than just rigging character tails, and is handy for virtually anything that requires an additive rotation applied. Ben also provides the Cinema 4D file [direct link] in case you wanted to follow along.
