Slick Preset for Creating Retro Style Video Game Space Battle in Cinema 4D with Thinking Particles

By November 9, 2012No Comments

Simon Russell posts a downloadable preset for Cinema 4D using Thinking Particles to create an epic retro style space battle he calls SPACE WAR!

The Cinema 4D preset has a complex simulation of good guys and enemies who battle each other automatically providing controls as to how the simulation and the battle takes place.

This is a brief walkthrough of a thinking particles tool I created. I don’t think it’ll be particularly useful (unless you want to make a Space War!) but it’s fun. If people are interested I’ll make a tutorial to outline some of the concepts used

The preset is a complex set up uses thinking particles to spawn new space ships that blow each other up in battle, and has tons of controls to change how the simulation actually plays out. Here, Simon provides a little walkthrough of the Space War preset showing how to get it all going, and what all the controls correlate to in the cinema 4D scene file.

Simon notes that this is a pretty specific look and animation, so he is unsure as to how useful it is, but one thing is for certain – It’s pretty rad. Other than being tons of fun, there is plenty to learn by picking apart this setup.
