Recently, The Foundry and Luxology unveiled some tidbits that would be available for the new Modo 701 release, one of which was the new procedural particle engine that will offer the same easy to use modo ideology and preset workflow.

The Foundry recently provided a look into the new procedural particles in Modo, with an overview showing how easy it is to use, and also showed some of the interesting things that you are able to do with particle integration.

Check out how easy it is to get started with MODO 701 particles and then catch a glimpse at integration with rigid body dynamics

Integrating Modo 701 particles with Rigid Body Dynamics, and a pretty great example of the power of that integration showing how to create particles that can alter a texture. In this case the example showed the particles leaving behind a scotched and burn mark on a surface as they passed, integrating particles with rigging, replicators and textures.

Modo 701 announced with a few features providing what was in store for the release with:

  • Procedural particle engine with an easy to use preset workflow.
  • Audio playback and sound channel modifier.
  • Schematic improvements, reducing scene graph complexity.
  • Dedicated dynamics simulation layer, significantly improving performance.
  • Simplified complexity of materials and layered shaders.
  • Large scene performance improvements by as much as 175x.
  • Preview render synchronization improvements, over 50x faster in large scenes.
  • New Python interpreter making python execution many times faster.
  • Unlimited network rendering.
  • Soon to be released LINUX operating system support.
  • AND LOTS MORE…
