Using Projection Man Camera Mapping to Build and Animate a 3D Environment in Cinema 4D

RenderReady Al Heck takes a look at what he calls “the coolest thing in Cinema 4D” in the often overlooked Projection Man, which will allow you to take images and project them on simple geometry to fake entire 3D environments quickly.

This project is based on Projection Man, a tool located in Cinema 4D but few people know how to use it and how amazingly powerful it is

Here, Al heck shows how to create a “haunted Corridor” 3D scene, inspired by the Silent hill games using Projection Man to build and light it. Al notes that Projection Man is actually a more powerful version to camera mapping, allowing the placement of layers and alpha channels from a photoshop file on different pieces of geometry in Cinema 4D.
