Previs Camera Script for Maya Creates Cameras from Current View With Preset Camera Definitions

By August 14, 2013No Comments

Cinematographer Matt Workman shares his Previs Camera Script for Autodesk Maya which automates creating cameras in Maya with preset definitions for some popular real-world film cameras, saving time when doing previs work.

The script creates a window that automates creating a Maya camera with the film back for following cameras. Arri Alexa 1080 16×9, Red Epic 5k 16×9, Red MX 4k 16×9

The script will allow you to create cameras in Maya with the proper film back settings for three popular film cameras, the Arri Alexa 1080 16×9, Red Epic 5k 16×9, Red MX 4k 16×9.

One of the greatest features of the script however, is that you can create and place a camera from the current view, allowing you to navigate and frame up the scene quickly placing cameras down where you wish, with all the proper settings of the real-world camera. The script is available on Matt’s Previs Camera Script Page here.
