Popular Slice It Up Tool Makes its Way to C4D

REnderTom, Tomas Sinkunas has been expanding his Ae Slice It Up tool to other platforms, such as Adobe Illustrator, and more recently, Cinema 4D.

Slice it Up is procedural and non-destructive way to slice spline objects in Cinema 4D

Slice it up offers the ability to cut various elements easily and non destructively. In After Effects, Slice It Up allows you to create animatable elements from a clip, at the push of a button. It’s counterparts are just as simple to use.

Slice It Up for Cinema 4D

The new offering for C4D is a Python driven Cinema 4D plugin that can cut closed splines into any number of vertically aligned slices by duplicating it N times and applying random width spline masks to it.

One of the most flexible things about using Slice It Up, is that  it gives you the ability to change values at any time. All of the tool’s controls are live, until you make Slice it Up editable.

Slice It Up is similar to the After Effects version where you can move slices in 3D space. Use “Linear X”, “Linear Y”, “Linear Z” values to move peaces in a linear fashion. Introduce randomness to the movement by adjusting “Random” values, as well as “Random Seed” for movement randomness.
