Auto-rigging systems come and go for Autodesk Maya, but Rapid Rig remains a highly popular and valued one. Rapid Rig Modular, as the name would suggest, takes a modular approach to creating character rigs.
Step by step instructions on how to set up a proxy rig and the functionality of each module.
Here, the developer of Rapid Rig, Dustin Nelson, covers step by step creating a proxy rig and covers the functionality of each module. Rapid Rig Modular lets you create standard bipedal and quadrupedal rigs at the click of a button. You can also build out your own specialized character. Each system is a component on to itself, so you can generate any number of arms, legs, heads, etc.
Rapid Rig Modular also has some handy presets to get you started. You can choose from a Biped (Human), Quadruped, Arachnide, or even a Bird. If you want to rig character quickly and flexibly, but don’t know too much about rigging in Maya, at just $90.00, it is a great buy.
