New Elementacular 1.5 supports Arnold and RenderMan Using OpenVDB

The Alexandra Institute has pushed a new version of Elementacular, adding support for Arnold and RenderMan Rendering throughout the open source OpenVDB exchange. Elementacular is an interactive cloud sculpting plugin for Autodesk Maya.

The volumetric tool offers a novel approach to constructing and rendering clouds. The plugin allows you to visually create volumetrics by placing primitives down to form the shape that you wish to achieve. All you have to do is apply the Elementacular material to your objects to create super fast volumetrics. You can visualize the volumetric effects right in the Viewport.

The plugin offers fast and user controllable fractal generation that can be powered by the GPU. Changing the underlying geometry will change the shape of the volumentrics.

Version 1.5 with support for volumetric clouds directly into modern renders such as Arnold and RenderMan through OpenDVB. The export to OpenVDB allows you to integrate effects seamlessly with 3rd party renderers. This means that you no longer have to rely on compositing to integrate volumes into a final render.
