Use Houdini’s Cloud Tools for Quick VDB Clouds in C4D

When asked “What is an easy way to create clouds for rendering in Octane?” Entagma’s Moritz Schwind answered with a new tutorial. You can use Houdini’s Cloud Tools. They are perfect for this.

The Cloud Tools can turn any piece of geometry into a cloud, that is complete with lighting. It does this by converting the elected objects into a VDB volume. The Houdini shelf tool, is great for creating single clouds.

Watch Moritz walk through the basic set up in Houdini, and exerting the VDB volumes so that they can be imported into Cinema 4D for rendering with Octane Render (or any other renderer).

OpenDVB is an open source file structure made to store and manipulate large amounts of volumetric data.
