Generalist Timo Noack Offers Some Quick Insights Into the Octane Node Tree Behind Creating Realistic Water Puddles
A little while ago, 3D Generalist Timo Noack played around with some street textures and created a scene that had realistic water puddles. After receiving some question on how ti was all accomplished, Noack shares a breakdown of the node tree in C4D that uses Octane Render.
Starting with an asphalt texture from Poliigon.com, Noack mixes two shaders, using the Octane Mix node. The mix is a great way to blend any number of materials, letting you control the mix by value, color or texture. At that point, it is just a matter of creating mattes for revealing the water puddles, and some fiddling with some settings.
