Tomas Sinkunas Has a New CopyGuides AE Tool Lets You Copy/Paste Guides From One Comp to Another

It’s not a stretch to say that RenderTom (Tomas Sinkunas) is one prolific After Effects tools developer. His Author’s Page at aescripts has 17 items!
A new effort from Tomas is a small script for AE that will allow you to copy and paste guides from one After Effects composition into another. It’s called CopyGuides.

It seems like a particularly specific tool, but one that might come in handy. There are some things to be aware of when using it:

  • There is no Undo step for this action,
  • Script modifies current project, so back it up if necessary,
  • Target compositions guides will be overwritten,
  • Temporarily saves project as .aepx file, so don’t freak out once you find such file in File -> Open Recent … list.

The script is compatible with CS6 and newer. If you are not a very organized person within After Effects or work with project templates, then CopyGuides might just save you a few times. CopyGuides is $9.99 and available here.
