Motion Designer Adrian Clark (Zulu8) walks through creating a city-scape environment in Cinema 4D, to cover three techniques for creating fog and volumetrics with Octane Render.

“Each has their own advantages depending on your application,” Clark says. That includes a method that was used more when Octane didn’t have the capability for creating environment fog. There are lots of great tips here for working with lighting and rendering settings with Octane in Cinema 4D.
