Create the ultimate Brick Material With Substance Designer

Chuck Trafagander Shows How To create Realistic Procedural Brick Material With Substance.

Chuck Trafagander (Get Learnt channel on YT) is running through a tutorial series that covers making the ultimate materials with Substance Designer. Past materials have included procedural versions of concrete, tire tracks in the mud, yarn, and cactus. The latest shows us how to create the ultimate brick material, something that will get used quite a bit in 3D.

The tutorial covers creating the brick material from scratch, using the brick generator node to make the initial pattern. From there, it is weathering and destruction to get the bricks looking more realistic with standard wear and tear.

Substance tools, including designer, the industry standard tools for 3D material authoring, offering a procedural node-based workflow around substances, that have support in virtually all DCC’s. Learn more about substance designer here.
