Creating a Recursive Voronoi Setup With Houdini

Ricardo Ponce Shows How to Create a Recursive Voronoi Fracture by Wrapping the Procedure in a Loop.

Technical Artist Ricardo Ponce walks through a setup using Houdini that allows you to create a recursive Voronoi fracture. The technique is reasonably straightforward, wrapping the fracture procedure and then using For Each and For Loops to have it repeat.

By using Loops in Houdini, it allows you to create more detailed areas of the Voronoi fracture while leaving some areas intact. It’s a great way to create some beautiful patterns and an easy way to mimic nature in Houdini. Creating a recursive Voronoi setup can also help to add details to areas of destruction effects while adding debris through particle systems.
