aimTools streamlines the process of using aim targets to control rotation animation.
Animator Brian Horgan (Graphite9) recently released a new animation tool for Maya. aimTools streamlines the process of using aim targets to control rotational animation and applies the animation back to the rig controls. The tool itself is based on the workflow demonstrations of the award-winning animator, Richard Lico.
“[aimTools] gives powerful and intuitive ways to visualize and interact with rotation-based animation in 3D space,” Horgan says. “It can simplify the process of setting up aim controllers to give alternate ways of interacting with character rigs.” Check out the launch video, as well as a vid that shows one possible use-case for the tool — using it to create overlapping animation from existing animation on the rig quickly.
