How to Split Apart Atoms with After Effects

MOBOX Graphics shows how to create an animation where atoms split apart in an explosion.

Mike Ridolfi (Mobox Graphics) walks through a project where he created an explainer of split apart atoms, built entirely in After Effects, using only Ae native tools and Cinema 4D. “In this After Effects motion graphic tutorial we are going to be taking a look at how to create this exploding atom reaction in After Effects” Mike notes about the tutorial.

The walkthrough shows how the atoms were made in C4D, and brought over to Ae, and how to create the explosion sequence making a lot of use out of motion blur. “This explosion technique can be used as a green screen over other footage or any other place an explosion for VFX would be needed,” Mike says.
