Mobox Graphics shows how to create Fourier Series based art in After Effects.

One great way to add randomness to After Effects animation is to use an expression. Likely the most popular that everyone learns first is “Wiggle”. Expressions like this work well, but you can create your own randomness using geometric guides. Check out this new tutorial from Mobox Graphics’ Mike Ridolfi who shows how to create a Fourier Series animation in After Effects using only standard tools.

Ridolfi shows how yo make the linkages that will drive the animation, and then uses the echo effect to create the mesmerizing flowing line emanating from the linkages.
