A new tutorial from Noel Powell shows how to make a glowing orb effect in Adobe After Effects from scratch, and have it fly around in 3D space using no third-party plugins. An After Effects asset called Wisp handles the particle trail effect.

Wisp is an after effects template that lets you add 3D particle effects in 4K. It includes 50 presets or unique particle trails, which you can make follow any moving 3D layer. Create effects like spreading ink, lightning that follows a path, plane contrails, and trails of smoke or fire.
