The two tend to go hand-in-hand, and when it comes to scripting in Maya, Character Rigging Specialist David Palley says that “It’s very important to not only understand the Python language but the errors as well if you want to be successful in rigging.”

That is why David created his new video tutorial that can help newbie Python coders with common issues that they might encounter. “In this video, we take a look at a few of the most common errors with Python in Maya, what they mean, and how to fix them.”

Some of the errors covered include:

  • invalid syntax
  • can only concatenate list (not “str”) to list
  • ‘list’ object has no attribute
  • list index out of range
  • name ‘example’ is not defined
  • ‘module’ object has no attribute ‘example.’
