How to Remap Using UV Coordinates With Arnold

Lee Griggs shows how you can remap and mess up an image using the uv_coords attribute.

Many of us have wondered how Arnold Rendering Specialist Lee Griggs creates some of those far-out images. This latest short tutorial shows how you can remap an image using the uv_coords attribute of the image shader. It’s how Griggs gets those trippy and abstract patterned distortions.

It wasn’t too long before @CGAzab created an OSL shader that had the same effect without the corner shifting in the image.

Another popular abstract technique is setting up a volume displacement using Arnold. Arnold will let you convert any poly mesh object to a volume by merely changing the step size under its volume attributes.
