Rolling or folding doors are nearly impossible to animate without some rig in 3D. The level of the rig depends on your determination to automate things. In his latest tutorial,  Expresso Mechanic TV shows how to make, from scratch, a folding door rig in Cinema 4D.

The tutorial shows how to use a significant amount of Xpresso, a few lines of Python, and eight Target tags to create the folding door rig.
