Johnny Fehr shows a common technique that creates more details by layering Displacement Maps.
With bump maps and displacements, it’s standard practice to layer them to create more detail and fine-tune things before rendering. Here, Johnny Fehr shows off that layered workflow that uses Displacement Maps and a layer node.
One cool thing to note is that Fehr uses channel packing for displacement work, meaning that you can have up to four displacement images in one file for convenience and efficiency. “With the channel-packed textures, we also have a very smart way to store more Displacement layers into one single file,” Fehr says.
