Creating Simulations from Compound Collision Shapes in Maya 2014 Extension’s Bullet Physics

By August 16, 2013No Comments

Autodesk furnishes another look at some of the features being released in the Autodesk Maya 2014 Extension, with a garnered look at some of the enhancements made to the bullet physics engine.

The Extension for Maya 2014 delivers several enhancements to the Bullet plug-in that enables you to use the open source Bullet physics engine

Derived from the bullet physics library, Maya Bullet physics allows you to create large-scale, highly-realistic dynamic and kinematic simulations which can include soft and rigid body objects and constraints.

In the Maya 2014 Extension, the Bullet plugin offers the ability to create compound collision shapes from multiple meshes, allowing you to run physical simulations on hierarchal groups of objects solving them as they are grouped.

Another addition is the ability to use Maya’s Forces with the Bullet Physics engine, integrating Maya physics working in conjunction with the Bullet engine.
