How to Create Automatic Raindrop Ripples in C4D

By September 24, 2018No Comments

Darkins Digital Shares a Technique that can Create Raindrop Ripples on a Surface Automatically.

Creating a rain effect is relatively straightforward with Cinema 4D. Create a drop that will represent the rain, and then instance that geometry within a particle emitter. Instant falling rain. What if you wanted the rain to affect puddles on the ground with the classic-looking raindrop ripples? Turns out that is equally as simple.

Darkins Digital shows how you can create raindrop ripples that can show up automatically on a surface, by using the internal ripple texture in Cinema 4D as a displacement. Adding the particles and the plane to the ripple shader instantly creates the connection between them so that everything happens naturally without guidance.
