How to Create a Realistic VHS Glitch With Nuke

Chris Turner shows how to create an amazingly authentic-looking VHS glitch effect using Nuke.

Chris Turner is a Visual effects compositor at ILM, and here he walks through how to create an amazing-looking VHS glitch effect using Nuke. “This is something I’ve meant to put together for a while now,” Turner mentions, and we are glad then he did!

The two-part tutorial shows how to get the mechanics working in the first video, while the second looks more into the design, getting it to match a vintage VHS aesthetic. We’ve seen a lot of plugins for tools like After Effects that recreate the VHS Glitch effect, but this one in Nuke looks ultimately more authentic to me for some reason.
