How to Create Classic Edge Wear in Maya With Arnold

By October 27, 2020No Comments

Reimagine Fx shows how to create edge wear using Arnold’s Curvature node.

Worn edges are something that you’d like to create procedurally, and with Arnold’s curvature node, it’s a simple process. Check out this new tutorial from Amar Shinde (Reimagine Fx) that shows how you can create the classic “edge wear” look in Maya using Arnold’s Curvature and the Mix node.

Arnold Curvature node uses samples within a range of an object’s edges and outputs a curvature. The node has attributes for adjusting the scope, falloff, and spread of the sampling. Arnold Curvature is excellent for quickly creating wear and tear, dirt maps, and other effects.
