The Basics of the V-Ray Material in Maya

By October 18, 20124 Comments

Arvid Schneider walks us through the Vray Material in Maya providing an overview of using the V-Ray Material for creating any type of look. Arvid shows the important options and features of the V-Ray material in Maya, and describes what things like Fresnel and IOR (Index of Refraction) are actually doing.

I will show you how to use reflection and refraction parameters inside the V-Ray Material and will show you what the important checkboxes like Fresnel and IOR are doing

For the most part, the VRay Material is fairly straight forward and being a monolithic physical shader is capable of mimicking any surface from glass to metals, to wood.
