Using Plexus in After Effects to Drive a Matte

Gardner Raymond revisits a previous post with a new spin, taking a look at how the magnification effects was created. Gardner offered some insight into how he recreated the title design and motion graphics from the film “The Art Of Flight” from consequence video designs. That tutorial had an extensive look at peppering designs and animation that made extensive use of Rowbyte’s Plexus plugin for After Effects.

Some people had been asking about how to create the “magnified” effect within a Plexus as seen in The Art of Flight title sequence, so here’s how to do itGardner Raymond -ConsequenceVideoDesigns.com

Here, Gardner picks certain shots from the intro, and breaks them apart, explaining how to match the matte that creates the magnification effect to what Plexus is doing in the shot. The effect is actually simpler than it looks and uses Plexus, the original tracking data, and a handy Null Swapper script.

Gardner Raymond is and Executive Producer at Consequence Video Designs, which he also owns -specializes in product launches, live events, nature tourism and adventure travel.
