Create a Snow Shader With Arnold

ILM Lighting TD Arvid Schneider Shows How to Create a Great Looking Snow Shader With Arnold

Arvid Schneider adds another installment to his material series, showing how to build a convincing snow shader. Working with all the visual attributes that make snow look like snow, including surface scattering, sparkles, and glints.

Arvid uses both high and low-frequency noise for the base of his snow shader. A slight displacement perturbs the surface to a familiar irregular shape. The shader is entirely procedural, with no image textures used.
