How to Sub-D Model Spiral Threads in Cinema 4D

Shane Benson Has an Updated Look Into Creating Spiral Threads in C4D With Sub-D Modeling Techniques.

Not familiar with Shane Benson‘s C4D Sub-D modeling series? Benson’s tutorial series covered how to create poly-perfect topology for a range of modeling challenges using Subdivision techniques in Cinema 4D. His latest (lesson 23) revisits creating spiral bottle threads.

The original tutorial covers using a quick trick to create the spiral threads. The technique used a cylinder with some divisions, and by selecting every nth row then moving them in opposing directions, you can start to get the twist of the screw threads easily. Now for this revisit, Benson shows off another method, completely modeling the spirals on a cylindrical shape. As with all sub-D modeling, keeping it low is essential to manage construction and forms.
