Arnold has some powerful lighting features and if you’ve never used most of them before, you could be missing out. Artist Brent LeBlanc is a Materials Technical Director at Blue Sky Studios and in his latest tutorial he covers how to do lighting in Arnold using an artistic and technical approach.

LeBlanc’s tutorial discusses some of the basics for working with lights using Maya, such as lighting layout and light properties. He also covers an important and often overlooked topic for beginner to intermediate artists working with physical renderers, and that is scene scale.
