Working With Iridescent Materials in Arnold

Reimagine Fx shows how easy it is to create an iridescent material with Arnold.

Arnold renderer makes it easy to create iridescent materials. If you need to recreate the look of soap bubbles, car paint, or the reflective coating on a beetle, that is all just a simple setting away. This new tutorial from Reimagine Fx shows how you can create the multi-colored look of certain materials in Arnold.

Iridescents and Thin Film.

The Arnold standard shader has a section called thin film. Changing this setting can reproduce the effect of thin-film interference on a surface. While that’s a simple solution to get that shimmering look, Arnold also has a thin film node. Reimagine Fx shows how you can bump up the look of colors using the thin film node attached to the specular channel.
