Create Simple Geometric Art With Bifrost Strands

Maximilian Schönherr shows how you can create geometric art by using simple Bifrost Strands in Maya.

Bifrost is widely known as a dynamics engine, but it has become an entire visual programming environment within Autodesk Maya. A new tutorial from Uhr (Maximilian Schönherr) shows how you can use Bifrost to create abstract geometric artwork easily.

Bifrost Strands and Arnold.

Schönherr’s tutorial doesn’t focus on using Bifrost for dynamics but instead concentrates on building a scene using two kinds of strands. In Bifrost, strands are geometry made from lots of curves. Maximilian uses geometry in Maya’s scene and its normals to direct where the strands will go.

The tutorial also covers how you can set the strands to render with Arnold.
