How to Make Instances React to Objects in Bifrost Using Closest Location

Jason Martine shows a Bifrost setup that makes flowers close when a ball gets close.

Jason Martine (JMM71) walks through a Bifrost setup that uses get_closest_location to make Alembic instances react to an object. The scene is one of many flowers that will automatically close based on the location of a sphere.

Jason makes a note of how the vertex colors work with Alembic instances in Maya Bifrost too. “To get the embedded vertex colors to work, I’m using one mesh with baked vertex colors, which I bring into Maya directly, apply a material, and then bring in to Bifrost.”

“The other is a .abc file of the mesh animated, which ARE read directly into Bifrost to access the per frame point positions.”

Pretty cool setup!
