Arvid Schneider introduces LookdevX in Maya and uses it to place materials on a dinosaur model.
LookdevX is Autodesk Maya’s MaterialX authoring environment that natively supports Maya’s OpenUSD (Universal Scene Description) data model.
In this new “How I Made It in Maya” series, Arvid Schneider (@arvidurs) introduces LookdevX and assigns materials to a dinosaur in an OpenUSD stage.
The latest versions of Maya currently have a technology preview in LookDevX. The graph environment is similar to the Hypershade authoring environment in Maya, but you can author materials feasibly to have them work across multiple content creation tools.
