Federico Cascinelli posts a look into some of his findings in searching for a solution for having both dynamics destruction as well as skinning working within the same rig. Federico actually came across several working solutions for creating a dynamic peeling effect, but this represents the quickest and simplest way to incorporate both destruction dynamics and a skin node. Turns out using SOuP nodes were the answer.

He sets up the simulation and effect using the SOuP attribute transfer and point nodes along side the Maya arrayMapper and Components node. Federico walks through the entire process on his blog, where he posted an explanation of the steps and SOuP nodes used. Check out his post dynamic skins in MAYA here.
