Anton Tenitsky Shares Rock Sculpting Techniques in ZBrush

Creating assets for environments? Sculpting rocks pose a challenge in natural randomness. It can be hard to get something that looks natural, and structured at the same time. This is especially true if you are looking to create rocks that have more visual interest than just flat smooth stones. If you are looking for a simple way to create rocks, then you should have a look at Anton Tenitsky’s rock sculpting method that he uses in ZBrush.

Anton Tenitsky is a modeling mentor at CG Spectrum College of Digital Art & Animation. Who often share tips for scultping. With this one, he shows how you can create some really nice looking rock assets pretty easily. The technique only uses a hand full of tools at best.

Using the workflow laid out in the tutorial, Anton has made a Rugged Rocks Asset Pack that you can purchase and use in your own work. The pack includes 17 high-quality rocks in OBJ format. The total polygon count of the pack is about 6 million triangles. They have been decimated in Zbrush, but they are not optimized for game performance.
