SOuP Smart Connect in Maya is Like a Marking Menu on Steroids

Jeremy Raven Shows Off SOuP’s New Smart Connect, a Highly Efficient and Comprehensive Connection Editor

Some recent updates to SOuP, a series of nodes that extends Maya’s procedural capabilities, added something that can let you make connections through a marking menu. The feature is called Smart Connect, and it is like a marking menu on steroids.

With Smart Connect, you can make node connections, much like you can with Maya’s connection editor, only via a marking menu instead. The tool was designed as a highly efficient and comprehensive connection editor that will allow you to connect anything, anywhere, at any time, really easily.

Smart Connect supports both data and numerical attributes, as well as multi selections and filtering. The SOuP project is developed and supported by Peter Shipkov, with contributions by Jeremy Raven, Maxim Kotrolev, David Schoneveld, Sergey Tsyptsyn, Ivan Turgeon, David Corral, Jack Straw, Michel Tuttle, Alex Smolenchuk. Some credit for the new marking menu tool goes to David Ryberg Lessel for his initial prototype and following collaboration on this toolset.
