Jonas Pilz shows how you can use the formula field and Modulo to create tricky selections easily.
Every time I see a new trick that makes use of the Cinema 4D fields feature, I am suitably stunned. Fields are pervasive throughout C4D r20 to the point where you can use them to create elaborate polygon and face selections. Maxon’s Jonas Pilz shows how you can use the formula field to dictate the range of every nth polygon face.
The quick tip makes use of Modulo to create the selection, and although that initially sounds like some hard maths, it is quite simple. Jonas runs through the basics of the Formula Field and especially highlight the powerful modulo function. In a previous look at selections, Pilz shows how to use C4D Fields to select random polygons and how to restrict selections manually.
