How to Draw Lines With Xpresso and Thinking Particles

Ilir Beqiri shows how you can draw lines on the screen using Xpresso and Thinking Particles in C4D.

A new tutorial, the first in a series, from Ilir Beqiri that will cover ways for drawing and animating lines in Cinema 4D, uses Xpresso and TP. Nodes, while robust, tend to intimidate a lot of users. Beqiri assures us not to worry. “Nodes are powerful and fun to use.”

How Hard Could it Be to Draw Lines On?

While drawing lines are natural, animating them is a little more challenging. You have to take into consideration the animation. Is it a deforming one or a revealing one? To make things more complicated, you need to take into account the number of lines you need to control and animate.

Many Methods, None Are Too Simplistic.

“I’ve experimented a lot and found some solutions, which aren’t that straightforward, but do the job,” Beqiri says about the techniques involved. Beqiri uses Thinking Particles rather than the more popular X-Particles because PT allows for ultimate control over any aspect of the system using Xpresso.
